COM 333 update
for the week of
July 17th

New Annoucements (posted Friday, 14 July 2000):

In lectures 13 and 14 this week, we will focus on webpage design (lecture 13) and ethics on the Internet (lecture 14).  In lecture 14, Prof. Keith Miller will be our guest lecturer - he is an international expert on computer ethics, and I'm sure that you will enjoy what he has to say.

I will be presenting at the IEEE-APS/URSI International Symposium in Salt Lake City, Utah, this week in a session on Multimedia Education in Electrical Engineering.  I will be away from home from July 16th through July 17th.  I will be reading e-mail and logging in to the class WebBoard infrequently while away.

Remember that your final research paper is due on Friday, July 28th, so now is the time to develop an outline and start your rough draft.  Please contact me directly if you have any questions at all about your paper.  Keep in mind that a significant part of my evaluation of your paper will be related to how you used the Internet to conduct your research and how you documented your online resources; I posted several examples of how to document online resources in the class WebBoard under the "Research Paper" conference.

We are planning a picnic for all COM 333 students and their families for Saturday, July 29th - it will be held on the UIS campus from 11 am until 2 pm.  Follow this link to learn more about the class picnic.

I am generally logged onto AOL IM as "BurksO2" nearly every morning about 6 am and throughout most "business" days.  I will also log on some evenings.  If you have IM and wish to chat, please do so!

Keep communicating! See you on the 'net!!
