COM 333 update
for the week of
July 10th

New Annoucements (posted Friday, 7 July 2000):

In lectures 11 and 12 this week, we will focus on the use of the Internet in higher education  (lecture 11) [a topic near and dear to me -  ] and the basics of HTML (lecture 12).

I will be traveling to a conference in upstate NY this week - it will be held at The Sagamore - on Lake George in the Adirondacks.  The theme of the conference is quality in online learning environments, and how quality can be assessed.  I will be away from home from July 12th through July 14th.  I will be reading e-mail and logging in to the class WebBoard infrequently while away.

Remember that your final research paper is due on Friday, July 28th, so now is the time to develop an outline and start your rough draft.  Please contact me directly if you have any questions at all about your paper.  Keep in mind that a significant part of my evaluation of your paper will be related to how you used the Internet to conduct your research and how you documented your online resources; I posted several examples of how to document online resources in the class WebBoard under the "Research Paper" conference.

We are planning a picnic for all COM 333 students and their families for Saturday, July 29th - it will be held on the UIS campus from 11 am until 2 pm.  Follow this link to learn more about the class picnic.

I am generally logged onto AOL IM as "BurksO2" nearly every morning about 6 am and throughout most "business" days.  I will also log on some evenings.  If you have IM and wish to chat, please do so!

Keep communicating! See you on the 'net!!
