COM 333 update
for the week of
June 26thNew Annoucements (posted Friday, 23 June 2000): In lectures 7 and 8 this week, we will focus on electronic discussion boards (lecture 7) and real-time communication on the web (lecture 8).
At this point in the semester, I would like to get some feedback from you on how the course is going. I created a short form for this purpose. I would appreciate it if you could submit this form to me - it is completely anonymous - so please only submit one form! ;-) There are 10 questions, but you don't have to answer all of them - just answer the ones where you feel you have something to say. Thanks!
You will need to select a topic for your paper (ANY topic that interests you) and review ten web sites that deal with this topic by July 3rd. Here is an example of what I expect for these reviews. You will need to conduct all of the research for your paper online, so is important to find good online resources. The final research paper is due on Friday, July 28th. Feel free to send me an e-mail note (oakley@uis.edu) if you want to discuss possible topics.
We are planning a picnic for all COM 333 students and their families for Saturday, July 29th - it will be held on the UIS campus from 11 am until 2 pm. Follow this link to learn more about the class picnic.
It's great to see all of your postings on our class WebBoard. I'm impressed by the way that so many of you are interacting with each other! Remember that participation in the class WebBoard discussions is 30% of your final course grade.
I am generally logged onto AOL IM as "BurksO2" nearly every morning about 6 am and throughout most "business" days. I will also log on some evenings. If you have IM and wish to chat, please do so!
