ART 470:  Wmn/Art: Discovering Her Story
See the syllabus for more detailed information and course materials.

Description:  Many existing general art history texts and resources seemed to have forgotten (or dismissed) the long history of talented and capable women who actively participated in fields of art typically reserved for men. This course will introduce women artists in the context of social, political and cultural happenings which influenced not only content but visibility of women in art. Specifically we will be looking at and discussing issues related to the portrayal of women in art by male and female artists and compare and contrast the meanings and interpretations of these images.
