I have used Blackboard several semesters to post course materials, syllabus, digital drop box, discussion group, announcement, quizzes, take-home exams, readings and e-mails. Almost 70% of my on-campus courses in business statistics and population and public are on the Blackboard. I have registered for TEP 501: Overview of Online Teaching for this semester to learn additional tools to offer online courses.
PAC 455: Polls, Public Opinion and Public Policy will adopt a non-technical multi-disciplinary approach to sample surveys/polls and how they are used for the public policy making process. This will also provide guidelines for interpreting survey results/polls correctly. This course can be used towards the requirement of social science research methods. All lecture notes and most reading materials will be on the Blackboard. Discussion group, group project and case studies will be on the Blackboard. I plan to use some Elluminate sessions with CSU students and faculty as a part of the joint teaching. I also plan to use blogging as a tool for teaching the course. I will be happy to act as a mentor for the course. However, I am willing to negotiate the role with my counterpart at CSU.
