Posting a Podcast to the Class Blog

Getting started:

You can create a free account at Blogger.com that will let you post messages (including podcasts) to our class blog, which is at http://pac442b.blogspot.com/.  In order to do this, you must be added to the "team" that has privileges to post to the blog - simply send Burks an e-mail note (oakley@uis.edu) from your UIS e-mail account, asking to be added to the team.  When he adds you to the team, you will receive an e-mail note from Blogger.com with an "invitation" to join the team, which will contain a URL for you to go to in order to accept the invitation.  When you go to this URL, you can add the class blog to your account if you already have an account at Blogger; else you will be prompted to create a new (free) account.  After you accept the invitation, you will be able to post to the class blog.

Posting audio to the blog:

A simple way to create an audio recording and post it to the class blog is to use Audioblogger.com.  Details about this are on our class handout.  Note that Audioblogger will post an audio recording to a blog in Blogger.com.  If you decide to record your audio at Audioblogger.com, simply create a free account at Audioblogger.com (if you don't already have one), and then "Log in to update your username and password or to change the blog you want to post audio to." You will view a screen with your account information, including a section with "Your Selected Blog" - simply click the "EDIT" button for that section, and select the "PAC442 Section B at UIS" blog, and then click on the "DONE" button.

After you record your audio at Audioblogger.com, a link to the mp3 file with your audio will be included in a new posting to our class blog.  You then can login to your account at Blogger.com and edit the posting - you can add a title and some text, so that your posting is more than just a link to the audio file.

Of course, if you are able to record an mp3 file directly and put it on a web server, that is just fine.  In this case, you will have to login to your account at Blogger -- you will be in the "Dashboard" section -- select the "PAC442 Section B at UIS" blog and then "Create a new post".  You will view a form in which you can enter a title, the body of the posting, and also a "Link" field - simply put the hyperlink to your mp3 file in that field.

The nice feature of this approach:

The nice feature about this approach is that Burks doesn't have to be involved in the process, other than adding you to the team blog.  You have complete freedom to make your own postings to the blog, including audio posts.
